Mexican President Rips U.S. After Attack in Casino

In a bit of tit for tat complaining, Mexican President Felipe Calderon demanded that the United States crack down on drugs after armed men from the U.S. destroyed a Mexican casino. At least 52 people were killed, with the attack representing a switching of places of sorts. Typically, the U.S. is admonishing Mexico to do a better job of reigning in the rampant and violent drug trade in that country, where violence often spills over the border and U.S. citizens are often unsafe if they venture into Mexico.
Since instances of U.S. citizens committing acts of violence in Mexico are relatively few, Calderon obviously wanted to take the opportunity to dish a little back in the direction of the U.S., though it will probably be difficult for anyone on this side of the border to take him very seriously. He said in a speech, directing comments at the U.S., "We’re neighbors, we’re allies, we’re friends, but you are also responsible." Calderon also called those responsible for the attacks "true terrorists," adding, "They aren’t and cannot be the ones in charge of our streets, our cities and our future."
Said President Obama, "We share with Mexico responsibility for meeting this challenge and we are committed to continuing our unprecedented cooperation in confronting these criminal organizations." The U.S. regularly provides money and other resources to Mexico for its war on drugs, but a bit of mistrust has evolved of late, partly after a U.S. plan to arrest a known hit man went awry and a U.S. customs agent was killed in Mexico this year
