Post Levels are well suited Reply with quote
This project, based on the village of Shapwick, was begun by Mick Aston of Bristol University to investigate the evolution of a typical English village.[143] A preliminary study of the village's history was carried out using maps and documents, then surveys of the buildings were made together with botanical surveys. Field walking was carried out and key sites excavated. A report on the project, which ran from 1989 to 1999, was published in eight volumes.[144]

Being largely flat, the Levels are well suited to bicycles, and a number of cycle routes exist including the Withy Way Cycle Route (22 mi, 35 km), Avalon Marshes Cycle Route (28 mi, 45 km), Peat Moors Cycle Route (24 mi, 39 km) and the Isle Valley Cycle Route (28 mi, 45 km).[145] The River Parrett Trail (47 mi, 76 km) and Monarch's Way long-distance footpaths are also within the area.[146]
