Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain will attend the opening of his Iowa headquarters Monday night in Urbandale.
Cain, a tea party favorite, has visited the Hawkeye State 22 times and plans to compete in the high stakes Ames straw poll in August.
The former Godfather's Pizza CEO announced his staff in Iowa last week, including state director Larry Tuel, and field staff Lisa Lockwood, Zach Dalluge and Steven Hensler, after members of his staff defected. Since announcing his candidacy May 21, Cain's stock has continued to rise in national and state-wide polls.
A Des Moines Register Iowa Poll of GOP candidates released in June showed Cain in third place with 10 percent, behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 23 percent and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with 22 percent. He tied for third with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in an Iowa poll released Monday, behind Bachmann and Romney.
Cain came in fourth place in the most recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll of voters nationally, with 10 percent support. He fell behind Romney with 24 percent, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with 20 percent and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani with 12 percent.
