West Ham United chairman David Gold has confirmed the club will sign a new striker before the close of the transfer window.
New manager Sam Allardyce has been busy bolstering his squad since taking charge at Upton Park, but he has yet to make an attacking addition.
Allardyce has brought in Kevin Nolan, Abdoulaye Faye, Matt Taylor and Joey O'Brien, and is considering handing a contract to full-back Jlloyd Samuel.
A striker is also on the agenda, with the Hammers having seen a bid for Shane Long rejected, while Jermaine Beckford and John Carew have also been linked with moves to the club.
However, a more likely option has emerged as former Chelsea forward Mikael Forssell is on trial with the club and could get a run-out against Sutton United.
And, with Carlton Cole's future at the club still uncertain, Gold revealed West Ham are pressing ahead with plans to bring in a new face up front.
"I can say for certain we will at least bring in another striker," Gold told the club's official website.
"We will not leave a stone unturned to get the players Sam wants, as was the case with those we have already brought in."
