Rangers boss Ally McCoist remains determined to hijack David Goodwillie's proposed move to Blackburn Rovers.
The Dundee United striker was expected to complete a move to Ewood Park on Monday, but Rangers have thrown a spanner in the works with a fourth offer.
United are believed to have rejected that bid, which fails to match the £2million up front plus £800,000 in add ons which has been accepted from the Premier League side.
"We are still in negotiations with Stephen Thompson up at Dundee United and, you know me, I'm forever optimistic. "
