Schalke claim Spanish legend Raul has rejected a move to Blackburn Rovers after the Premier League club made an approach for the striker.
The Bundesliga outfit say they were contacted by Rovers on Tuesday afternoon regarding the 34-year-old, who is the record goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League.
But Schalke insist they do not want former Real Madrid star Raul to leave and have been reassured by the Spaniard that he also wants to stay at Veltins Arena.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told his club's official website: "Both our coach, Ralf Rangnick, my colleague (board member) Peter Peters and I have always stressed that we do not want him to leave."
Heldt added: "Raul told us that he wants to stay with Schalke and asked us to turn Blackburn Rovers down. We have already done that.
"We are pleased that Raul wants to continue to contribute to our sporting success."
